Description: During our writing SMART goals sessions and educator/administrator conversations, many questions have been asked about writing standards-based IEP goals. In this session, learn how to break down standards into specific skills to target in students' IEP goals and how to use vertical planning for selecting goals on which to focus. Free resources to help unpack standards will be reviewed and provided to assist in future goal writing. Participants are encouraged to review the Standards-Aligned Goals and Objectives page on IEP-Q (create a free account with your school email address if you haven't already) prior to the session. Time will also be dedicated to collaborative discussions, application, and questions.
Objectives:
Define standards-aligned goals
Identify embedded and prerequisite skills within the standard
Apply strategies to write standards-aligned IEP goals
